Tignes to benefit from new ‘village’ opening for 2013/2014 season

Posted on 24 September 2013

An exciting new ‘village’ within Tignes in the French Alps  will be up and running this ski season, making the resort an even more appealing place to own a ski property.

The former Les Boisses area of popular Tignes is undergoing a €150million transformation, which will see it renamed ‘Tignes 1800′, and  the first stage of the overhaul is due to open in time for Christmas 2013. The Tignes 1800 master-plan includes the brand new Les Boisses cable car, which gives direct access to all the established areas of the wider Tignes ski resort and the Espace Killy ski area.

Built around the picturesque Saint Jacques church, Tignes 1800 includes 350 apartments along with a number of shops, restaurants and a spa. Inspired by traditional Haute Tarentaise architecture, the six main buildings will be built in a chalet style, with the MGM-constructed Kalinda residence, offering doorstep skiing and in-house spa and leisure facilities, now taking reservations and forming a centrepiece of the village.

As well as being a great winter holiday destination, the Tignes 1800 boasts a wide range of summer activities, including 20 kilometres of glacial skiing, 90 kilometres of mountain biking trails, trekking, squash, golf and swimming in the lake in Tignes Le Lac.

Complementing the endless supply of outdoor activities scattered across the range of villages that make up the Tignes Valley – already a desirable place to own a ski home, Tignes 1800 has a fitness and wellness centre with an area dedicated to water therapy. The water therapy zone includes two saunas, a steam bath, two Jacuzzis, a relaxation area, a fitness area with massage room and a cardio-training room.
