Châtel’s ‘off slope’ offering gets even better with new aquatic centre

Posted on 06 May 2014

Property-owners visiting their home in Châtel next season can look forward to a soothing swim or massage after a hard day on the slopes, thanks to a brand new aquatic centre opening shortly in the French resort.

Called Forme d’O and located in the village centre, Châtel’s new aquatic centre will open to the public on 15th July. It covers approximately 4,138 square metres and has a capacity for 700 visitors. Forme d’O replaces Châtel’s old 320-square-metre swimming pool, which no longer meets the requirements of today’s visitors.

Forme d’O forms part of Châtel’s ongoing development and investment programme, which aims to build state of the art infrastructure to widen the resort’s appeal. The aquatic centre will offer both the local population and holidaymakers an additional year-round facility, particularly one that can be used in winter to relax after a day on the slopes. It will increase the appeal of owning a ski home in Châtel.

Geared towards family with multiple water activities, the centre has special equipment, including family changing rooms and baby areas, and is suitable for all types of visitors, including schoolchildren, families, the elderly, the handicapped, sportsmen and local residents.

The central spa area features a wet zone and dry zone. The former zone has an indoor swimming pool, beach, 3 saunas, 2 Turkish baths, 3 cold massage shower cubicles and a relaxation room; the latter zone includes changing rooms, a beauty area, 4 treatment rooms, a tea room, relaxation room and cardio room.

The fun-fit area has 2 swimming pools – an indoor pool with different areas for children, teenagers and fitness keep-fit and an outdoor swimming pool, which will be heated in winter and boasts views of the valley.
