Summer in Val d’Isère: Planned Events and Activities

Val d’Isère, one of the most popular ski resorts in France is firing on all cylinders as it opens its summer skiing and activities sessions for 2018. The resort has gained in popularity thanks to several promotion campaigns and locals are optimistic, they can take over Courchevel as France’s most exclusive ski destination.

On 3rd of June, summer skiing in Val d’Isère opened to the delight of many fans, thanks to nine meters of winter snowfall. This is the first time in Val d’Isère’s history that lower slopes below the glacier have opened in June. Pistes will be open from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. The summer skiing session will finish on July the 13th, depending on snow conditions.

How much are summer ski passes?

Lift passes cost €28 per person per day, or a summer skiing pass is €330 per person. Alternatively, downgrade to 6 days for 168 euros or five days for 140 euros

Summer activities will also open from 30th June to 2nd September. One day passes start from just  €8 and include access to the swimming pool (wellness centre is exempt,) unlimited access to table tennis and beach volley facilities, as well as a choice of archery, golf, skating, shooting, radio-controlled cars, or a biathlon laser session.

Alternatively, a six-day pass is 40 euros, and free shuttle buses around the village are also scheduled.

The Mountain bike passes open at the same time until the 26th of August. The mountain bike Olympic cable car lift will open every day from 9.45 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. and the Borsat chairlift from 10 a.m. to 4.25 p.m.

Bike day passes cost ten euros or can be extended to 25 euros with proof of residency. Other activities are also available such as horse riding, golfing, e-bike rental and paragliding.

From the 12th to 15th of July, Summer in Val d’Isère welcomes the 4th Electric Vehicle Show that will display more than 400 vehicles to the public. Entrance is free, and the agenda includes electric and hybrid car test centres as well as test drives in the mountain. An educational entertainment show will also be laid on for kids.
