La Plagne

La Plagne is the most popular ski resort in the world and each season welcomes on average 2.5 million visitors, consisting of ten villages each is linked by road, ski lifts and pistes that vary considerably in terms of altitude and services. While Montchavin and Les Coches are lower in altitude and quieter, Aime-la-Plagne, Bellecôte and Plagne Centre are located around 2000 metres and provide excellent access to one of the largest French ski domain – Paradiski.

This wonderful ski resort has so much to offer and is suitable for the avid skiers and non-skiers alike who love to holiday in the great outdoors. The French ski area of La Plagne can be found in the Alpine Valley of the Tarentaise (Savoie) La Plagne and its close neighbour Les Arcs form the Paradiski ski area. La Plagne has an impressive 100km2 (39 square miles) of skiing which spreads across no less than four communes, they are Aime, Bellentre, Champagny-en-Vanoise and Mâcot- la- Plagne. La Plagne is a modern ski resort and has 225km (140 miles) of slopes ranging from green/beginner, blue/intermediate to black/expert which clearly means La Plagne is a suitable ski resort for all level of skiers, with numerous gondolas, chairlifts and drag lifts there is also a bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track.

The closest airport to La Plagne is Chambery (CMF) is 92km (57 minutes) away; however, most foreign visitors will probably fly in via Geneva (GVA) airport which is 2 hours (149km) from La Plagne. International flights are frequent so getting to your ski holiday home is effortless. Transfers are available by way of a shuttle bus, private car, and hire car or taxi; there are several railway stations nearby also for added convenience.

As always the BBQ is popular especially with families and you can easily buy all your provisions from the shops here for when you choose to eat at home.

Let’s think about Après ski everyone wants to relax and chill after being active all day, there is an abundance of lovely restaurants offering everything from snacks to gastronomic delights, including regional specialities to rustic and international cuisine. Cosy and comfortable seems to be the theme so you can rest and relax when eating your lunch or dining in the evenings. There are plenty of bars with different atmospheres and themes, some offering “happy hour” with large sofas to sink into and get comfy with live music. For those craving a vibrant and busy evening then there are night clubs where you can put on your dancing shoes and bop until dawn. Basically, your evenings can be whatever you want from having a quiet drink and aperitifs before dinner to champagne and cocktails after dark. You can have a quiet family orientated evening or dancing the night away until the early hours if you so desire there is literally something for everyone.
