This very pretty village is the perfect setting for an ideal ski resort, it was originally a small hamlet found between Meribel and Courchevel known then as La Tagna. Today this lovely village has the perfect backdrop of pine forests and majestic mountains and retains its laid back charm aided by a no car zone so you can walk freely in the village and enjoy the views.

This picturesque village is the baby of the Three Valleys and although located in the heart of the world’s largest ski area retains its modest village charm. A wonderful location for everyone it’s a particular favourite for families because the holiday season is not just during the winter months this resort offers holidays at any time with numerous activities available during the summer months too.

This beautiful ski resort of La Tania is located in the Courchevel area of Les Trois Vallees translated is The Three Valleys and it is 1400m above sea level, it’s around a 25-minute drive from Moutiers. You can ski down to both Courchevel and Meribel and La Tania boasts the use of the ski schools Ecole du Ski Francais which just happens to be the largest ski school in France, other ski schools are also available. Because Meribel and Courchevel link up with La Tania it gives an impressive 600km of pistes in the Tarentaise Valley you can explore. This ski resort is ideal for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers; there are three pistes that run down through the picturesque forest into the village. La Tania has a North faced position guaranteeing an abundance of quality snow which is ideal for skiers and snowboarding. It’s a great all year round resort and is mindful of its green and environmental impact of its location, thus keeping the village centre a pedestrian resort and shops and local services are all within walking distance. There are beautiful wooden buildings set amongst a lush woodland landscape it is the perfect setting for families who want a relaxed atmosphere rather than the hustle and bustle of a busy resort. Also great for couples and groups of friends alike who want a laid back holiday where they can relax and unwind at the end of their day enjoying dinner and a quiet drink.

The closest airport to La Tania is Geneva International Airport which is about 135 minutes away; this is the best airport for foreign visitors to La Tania to fly into. Courchevel does have its own Altiport which is ideal for helicopters. Transfers from Geneva to La Tania are made comfortable by shuttle transfers, or you can hire a private car or go by taxi. It won’t take too long before your on the crisp white snow and breathing in the fresh alpine air. In fact, it’s true it will indeed take your breath away!

Apart from all the fabulous skiing that you can take part in, there are other activities available too in both ski resorts. There is a free daily bus service for your convenience which runs between La Tania and Courchevel from early in the morning until around midnight enabling you to get the most out of both resorts, Courchevel is a larger resort so there is more to do there. Courchevel has recently opened an Aqua motion centre where you can use these great facilities. It has indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, indoor surfing wave and wild river rapids, hammam, spa, sauna, climbing wall, this is ideal if you fancy a change from the snow for a day. Also in Courchevel perfect for families is the Indian Trail; tucked away in the canyon of Les Indiens it offers a Native American camp. Here you will find Tepees, fancy dress, face painting, archery and treats of hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Shopping here is recommended, you can get everything from ski wear to designer boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Valentino, Loro Piana, Prada, Cartier, Dior and Chanel. In La Tania night sledging for children is a favourite and there is a cinema too.

Après ski as already mentioned in La Tania is low key; there are of course numerous bars and restaurants offering local rustic French cuisine and international favourites, burger bars, pizzerias, crepes and take away service which is perfect for this resort, you won’t go hungry! The theme here is most definitely relaxed, cosy and comfortable; if you want an upbeat night out you can visit Courchevel where you will find a vibrant party atmosphere.
