Meribel is a village in the mountains of the Alps, in Savoie, France. It is split into two sectors: upper and lower Meribel. The upper part is at 2,952m (9,685 ft) altitude, while the lower part is at 1,450m (4,575 ft).

Meribel is less than 2 hours’ drive from Geneva Airport via Lyon. Ski lifts reach the resort in both directions. To reach Meribel, you can go from Geneva Airport to Lyon Train Station by car or plane.

Why is Meribel famous for tourism?

From the slopes to the centre of Meribel Village, you’ll find fun activities and adventures for every age in Meribel. The mountain offers easy access to local spots like Val Thorens – 13km only for 20 minutes – and Saint Martin de Belleville – 29km for 40 minutes.

Finally, the village is served by a free shuttle bus that takes you up to the resort until midnight and brings you back to town when you are ready. The entire Meribel Valley gets around 425 cm of snow per year with plenty available for powder skiing and snowboarding in the northern half of the resort.

Winter/summer activities for non-skiers in Meribel Village

If you want to discover the area, non-skier activities in Meribel are many and varied in summer as well. Take your time to wander around the village of Meribel. You can go hiking, mountain biking, golfing or playing tennis, Alpine tour and go sport, horse carriage riding, water sport fun (windsurfing, kite surfing).
